Dr. Julie Hiura is a Doctor of Optometry and our Chief Optometrist. She examines patients of all ages providing comprehensive routine eye examinations, urgent care visits, and contact lens fittings.
Dr. Hiura received her undergraduate degree at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California and obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from The New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. She is currently a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists and the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Hiura performs eye examinations on children of all ages by evaluating eye muscle movements, visual behavior, and dilation of the eyes. Dilation allows the doctor to examine the health of your child’s eyes as well as ascertain if there is a need for glasses even if the child is nonverbal. If it is determined that your child needs glasses, Dr. Hiura will write a prescription for eyeglasses and advise you and your child how to wear the glasses.
